Guangzhou Huashang College (formerly known as Huashang College of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics) was founded in 2005, approved as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in 2006, and approved as a bachelor's degree awarding unit in 2011. It is a full-time applied undergraduate higher education school with distinctive financial characteristics and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It has two campuses in Zengcheng, Guangzhou and Sihui, Zhaoqing, covering multiple disciplines such as economics, management, literature, engineering, arts, education, science and medicine, with over 29,600 students.
The School is headed by Professor Chen Xinzhi, a world-renowned biochemist and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, a French chemist and Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, as Honorary President.
At present, the university has 16 faculties (departments and departments) with a total of 48 undergraduate majors, including 5 international classes for joint training of Chinese and foreign students, 2 overseas innovation classes and 1 bilingual class, covering 7 disciplines including management, economics, literature, engineering, art, education and medicine. There are two key disciplines at provincial level in Guangdong Province: Accounting, a key discipline with characteristics of Guangdong universities, and Journalism and Communication, a key cultivation discipline of Guangdong universities. The university has been qualified to admit international students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and is actively promoting cooperation among universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to integrate higher education into the international environment.
The university has been awarded the titles of "Top Ten Independent Colleges in Guangdong Province", "Outstanding Institution of Private Higher Education in China", "Most Competitive Independent College in Employment in Guangdong Province" and "Most Comprehensive College in Guangdong Province", "No. 3 Independent College in Finance and Economics in China", "Outstanding Contribution to Contemporary Private Schools in Guangdong", "Outstanding Contribution to 40 Years of Private Education in Guangdong", and "No. 1 in Value-added Evaluation of Research Competitiveness of Private Undergraduate Colleges in China".
Over the past ten years, Guangzhou Huashang College has continued to improve its level of education and has trained more than 30,000 outstanding talents of all kinds for the country, which is well received by employers and highly recognized by the society. Graduates are mainly employed in the fields of finance and economics, finance, commerce and trade, management, language and foreign affairs, etc. The initial employment rate of undergraduates has been above 97% for five consecutive years, and the initial employment rate is higher than the provincial average, and the satisfaction rate of employers with graduates is as high as 96%.
